F1 Alfa Romeo Racing Name Change

Having just changed their name from Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 to Alfa Romeo Racing, the team from Zurich has undergone yet another name change.

The squad is now known as ‘Alfa Romeo Racing Everyone But Ferrari’

“It’s more honest” Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur told reporters.

“This is a decision taken by our senior management, to agree to the decision taken by Ferrari senior management” Vasseur said.

Vasseur was at pains to emphasise the name change does not influence on track action

“Absolutely we’ll be racing Ferrari 100%” Vasseur said, fingers crossed behind his back.

It comes as the reports reveal the team is receiving a substantial discount on their Ferrari power unit.

But Vasseur dismissed talk that this cements the squad’s position as a Ferrari B-team

“Not at all” the Team Principal told the press.

“We’re more like a C team” he said, “we’ve got a lot of work to do if we want to get B-team status!”

It comes as the squad also unveiled its new premier partner, Philip Morris International. The company will feature on the livery of the 2019 Alfa Romeo, in a similar way as Ferrari.

“Mission Help Ferrari Winnow” Vasseur said.
