With a new season fast approaching championship contender Max Verstappen has unveiled a radical new helmet design for 2019.
Verstappen took to Twitter to reveal his bold new helmet design, a scale replica of Dr Helmut Marko’s head.
“It’s Helmut reveal time!” Verstappen greeted fans ONLINE.
“I wanted something completely fresh and different this year, and I think we pulled it off!”
“It’s a bit more skin-color than last year, which I think is really cool.”
“Can’t wait to #UnleashTheRacingConsultant for #Season2019” Verstappen wrote on Twitter.
The dutchman revealed the unique design serves a dual purpose.
“It’s part of my community service” Verstappen confirmed, “the FIA said I needed to be accompanied by a senior official at all times”
“This way Helmut can literally keep an eye on me”
“Plus I can use it to hack into Helmut’s Face-ID!” Verstappen boasted.
The Red Bull Racing consultant was touched by the tribute.
“I love it” Dr Marko said, “I am the head of Red Bull Racing after all”
Verstappen revealed the tribute won’t stop on top, suggesting his racing suit for 2019 is also inspired by the Austrian.
“I won’t actually be wearing a racing suit this year” Verstappen revealed.
“I’ll be wearing a crisp white shirt and blue denim jeans”
“The man’s got style!”
Verstappen isn’t the first to have immortalised his boss in his helmet design. Newly signed Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is also rumoured to be following the trend, although his design is facing significant complications.
“How was I supposed to know Arrivabene was going to get fired!” the Monegasque shouted.
“F**k!!”
“Sorry for the bad word”
