In what can only be described as a horrible mixup, Scuderia Toro Rosso have accidentally launched their 2018 car online on Monday.

Shocked fans watched on in disbelief as a 59 second screensaver revealed what appeared to be the team’s 2019 challenger, the STR14. But on closer inspection, the team’s worst fears were realised.

“We’ve made a terrible mistake” conceded Team Principal Franz Tost, quietly sobbing.

“That’s last year’s car” Tost told us “Or 2017’s. I can’t tell”

Tost was dumbstruck when asked for an explanation.

“I don’t know how this happened” Tost said, “both cars could not be more different!”

“Last year’s car is blue with a little bit of red. This year’s is a little bit of red with blue”

“My face has gone a little bit red in embarrassment”

However Tost did concede that there were some similarities between the cars.

“The 2019 Toro Rosso is inspired by the legendary 2018 Toro Rosso” Tost confimed.

Team Manager Graham Watson revealed the inspiration behind the STR14’s design.

“For us, the design stage is a two step process” told us “Copy and paste”

Toro Rosso faces further embarrassment however, with several fans online pointing out the team accidentally unveiled its 2017 driver, Daniil Kvyat.

“This is going from bad to worse” Tost told us.
