DEVELOPING STORY: After an incredibly disappointing result in Q3 at the Australian Grand Prix, Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto has sacked Technical Director Mattia Binotto.

“He’s got to go” Binotto told senior Ferrari officials according to witnesses.

Sources in Italy are reporting Binotto informed Binotto of the decision hours after Sebastian Vettel was 7 tenths off the leading Mercedes pair of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.

Whilst the team are still investigating the difference in pace, Team Principal Binotto took decisive action.

Binotto was spotted in heated conversation with himself in the mirror by concerned onlookers, with the two eventually walking away in exactly the opposite direction.

“Mattia was growing increasingly frustrated with Mattia” a senior Ferrari insider told us. “He’s on a flight back to Fiorano as we speak”

Reports also suggest a replacement will be announced before the lights go out on Sunday.

“It’ll be Mattia Binotto” sources confirmed.

“Mattia will take over from Mattia, and he’ll be reporting directly to Mattia”

The news comes as reports emerge from Italy overnight that former Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene was seen laughing and smoking a cigar atop his ivory tower.

More details as they come to hand.
