With Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc 8 tenths and 1 second off the pace respectively, Ferrari have decided to treat tomorrow’s Spanish Grand Prix as “Summer Testing”

“We can’t compete with Mercedes, so we may as well just drive around and collect some data” Team Principal, Technical Director, Chief Strategist, Media Manager and Harry Potter Impersonator Mattia Binotto told us.

“After all, we killed in Winter Testing, so maybe we can do the same in Summer Testing”

Both Ferrari drivers are on board with the decision.

“There’s so much we can learn about our car this weekend” Sebastian Vettel said post qualifying.

“Particularly why it’s so sh*t!”

Vettel was adamant there are positives to take out of the weekend.

“We do really well here in Barcelona when there’s no racing and the pace is meaningless” Vettel told reporters.

Vettel’s team mate Charles Leclerc agrees.

“This is the perfect opportunity to prepare for Monaco… 2020” Leclerc confirmed.

The team confirmed that Vettel would drive in the first session of the race, with Leclerc to jump in the car after Lap 25.
