An early win for Williams this weekend, with Robert Kubica finally completing his Q1 lap for the Australian Grand Prix.

“It’s a massive relief to get a timed lap on the board” Kubica told us.

The Williams driver finished the lap of the Albert Park circuit in a time of 95 days, 7 hours and 24 minutes.

“A NEW PB!” Kubica exclaimed.

“To finish with a time of 1 minute and 137,245 other minutes is a real positive for us”

“We wanted to go below the 138,000 minute mark, so to do that on used softs was pleasing” Kubica told us.

“We’re not looking at the leaderboard” Kubica told reports, “because they’ve packed it away, the grand prix is over.”

In yet another blow for Kubica, time sheets confirmed he missed out on Q2 by 3 tenths of a second.

“I don’t think we could have gone any quicker” Kubica conceded.

“Because the grand prix was finished and it was back to being a street circuit – I nearly got booked for speeding!”

“Key word, nearly.” Kubica clarified.

“I was overtaken by a Suzuki Swift – but it had DRS!”

Kubica is now turning attention to his next challenge.

“Bahrain here we come!”
