Rich Energy Haas have officially unveiled their 2019 version of the 2012 version of the 1985 Lotus 97T on Thursday (pictured above middle. Or left. No I think it’s middle. No, left.)

At an event ironically bereft of energy, Rich Energy Haas unveiled the design in front of 7 of the world’s media in the lobby of an empty hotel.

“We’re really excited” Rich Energy CEO William Storey told the reporter at the launch.

“This sort of livery and colour palette has never been done before!”

“Except for the 70’s, 80’s and from 2012-2015” Storey clarified.

The new livery, featuring Rich Energy’s black and gold reminded fans of the 2012 black and gold Lotus, which reminded fans of the 1985 black and gold John Player Special Lotus.

But Haas driver Romain Grosjean isn’t convinced.

“I can’t really remember what the 2012 Lotus looked like to be honest with you” said Grosjean, one of two drivers of the 2012 Lotus.

“Oh yeah” Grosjean replied when shown pictures on their phones.

“That could be any French driver though” Romain defended.

“But yeah that is pretty similar” the Frenchman confirmed.

Fans also took to social media to comment on the similarities.

“I can’t wait for next year when they unveil the 2020 version of the 2019 version of the 2012 version of the 1985 version” one fan wrote.
