Inspired by some Kimi Raikkonen radio, Racing Point have officially and at long last changed their team name.

Raikkonen’s FP1 flying lap was cut short by a slow Lance Stroll on the second to last corner of the Monaco circuit.

“I got held up by the Force India or whatever the f**k they’re called”

Hearing the outburst, marketing staff at Racing Point pounced, seizing the moment for a name change.

“It’s just easier” Team Owner and Driver Recruiter Lawrence Stroll told reporters in Monaco.

“That’s what the fans call us anyway!” STRoll said.

“Commentators are always getting our name wrong, and always giving up and saying whatever’ we’re called” Stroll told us.

“So why not make that the official title?”

The decision comes into effect as of Saturday’s qualifying session for Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.

“It’s perfect timing” said Racing Point head of Marketing Strategy Lawrence Stroll told us.

“We’ve been thinking about this for a while – how can we make SportPesa Racing Point Formula 1 Team longer – and we think we’ve done it!”

The team will continue with it’s existing contractual relationships, meaning naming rights partner SportPesa will stay with the team under the new name.

“We’re now officially SportPesa Whatever The F**k We’re Called Formula 1 Team” Stroll confirmed.

“It’s the longest name since Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor”
